Surveying Knowledge Frontiers: Global IR Contributions from Indonesia

CGSC invites you to join Moch Faisal Karim (BINUS) and Adam Tyson (Leeds) for an event examining how Indonesia contributes to 'global IR'.

The speakers will examine potential contributions to the ‘global IR’ project from Indonesian intellectual and historical sources. Proponents of global IR such as Acharya and Buzan (2019) are seeking out knowledge frontiers beyond the West, and hope to open the story of IR to interpretations from around the world. The goal is to promote greater diversity in knowledge and to understand non-Western perspectives. What might we find on the ‘other side of the Westphalian frontier’? What can Indonesian history, philosophy and experience contribute to this intellectual endeavour? The authors offer some preliminary thoughts and observations, and welcome critical insights from the audience.
