Breaking Barriers: The UN and the Complexities of Multilateralism in the MENA Region
The CGSC is delighted to welcome Dr Akram Khalifa, PhD. Human Rights Officer and Team Leader, Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Geneva, to deliver a seminar titled 'Breaking Barriers: The UN and the Complexities of Multilateralism in the MENA Region.

Short Bio: Akram Khalifa, PhD, Human Rights Officer and Team Leader at the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), with extensive experience in international development, post-conflict reconstruction, peacebuilding, and human rights across the MENA region and Sub-Saharan Africa, including Tunisia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Sudan, Lebanon, and Syria. He holds a PhD in English Language and Literature from Université de La Manouba in Tunisia and a Master’s degree in Human Rights and Democratisation from the University of Malta. Akram has taught at universities in Tunisia, the USA, and Lebanon and is fluent in English, Arabic, and French. Currently, he serves as the Coordinator for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Countries and Yemen and leads the MENA Capacity Building Programme within OHCHR.
