The CGSC would like to share calls for papers for two conferences linked to Dr Sahla Aroussi's work:

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON GENDER AND RESPONDING TO VIOLENT EXTREMISM, ONLINE, NOVEMBER 23-24, 2021

The Gender and Responding to Violent Extremism (GARVE) Network is pleased to announce the call for submission of abstracts/papers for its upcoming International Virtual Conference. GARVE is a global network that aims to attract members from diverse disciplines, to promote innovative and critical thinking on violent extremism from a gender perspective and to facilitate shared learning. The Network is funded by a UKRI/Global Challenges Research Award and led by Dr Fatuma Ahmed Ali from the United States International University-Africa in Kenya and Dr Sahla Aroussi from the Centre for Global Security Challenges, University of Leeds in the UK.

PERFORMING VIOLENCE, ENGENDERING CHANGE, ONLINE, 16-18 NOVEMBER 2021
A Conference on Gender and the use of Arts-Based Methods to Understand Conflict, Prevent Violence and Build Peace.

This Conference aims to bring together artists, academics, activists and representatives from civil society and governments to explore gendered experiences of violence and conflict and to prevent and respond to gender harms. The Conference will focus on linking participants across disciplines and backgrounds to highlight the potential of the arts and art-based methods in addressing gender issues in conflict situations and peacebuilding.
