‘Asylum as Reparation’ – a new book by Dr James Souter

Dr James Souter, CGSC member and Lecturer in International Relations, has published a new book with Palgrave Macmillan.

Asylum as Reparation – Refuge and Responsibility for the Harms of Displacement argues that states have a special obligation to offer asylum as a form of reparation to refugees for whose flight they are responsible.

The book launch will be hosted by BISA on 31 March 2022 – book launch details here.

Dr Souter recently contributed a 20 minute podcast to the Ilkley Literature Festival’s series, Settee Seminars, entitled ‘Asylum as Reparation: Rethinking Responsibilities to Refugees’, introducing and exploring the themes from his new book. Listen to the podcast episode.
