2021 SPIN Fellowship Project: "Classified: The CIA on Twitter"

Dr Louise Pears has been awarded a 2021 SPIN Fellowship for a project, "#Classified: The CIA on Twitter", with Rhys Crilley at University of Glasgow.

SPIN - the Secrecy, Power, and Ignorance research Network - is a collaborative initiative between researchers based at the University of Bath, University of Bristol, Cardiff University, and the University of Exeter with UK and global network members.

In their project, Louise Pears and Rhys Crilley investigate the communication practices of an intelligence agency to consider what is revealed and what is hidden through a critical interrogation of the CIA’s tweets and audience responses to them, to ultimately consider practices of legitimacy, authority, and power in the digital age.
